sustainability

For our clients today, “going green” in the workplace has become the norm. For SGH Design Partners, practicing sustainable design and construction is second nature.

Sustainability applies to every aspect of an office interior project, and it always begins with communication.

Our approach is to thoroughly understand our client’s goals for having a workplace that is environmentally friendly, and then to communicate clearly how those goals can be achieved. Our clients may have informal goals for reducing their environmental impact, or they may want to seek full LEED certification, like the Tridel Hullmark Centre.

Whatever your own vision for sustainable design and construction in your office transformation, we can help you achieve it. Among the areas we address for our clients:

Re-use
Recycling materials, fixtures and furniture from your current space into your new office is always a green alternative.

Waste management
During construction, the safe and environmentally friendly disposal of waste materials is critical.

Re-purposing
Our objective is finding solutions that are not only environmentally-conscious but also creative – like turning old doors into work tables.

Respecting the air
It’s essential to consider the fumes and gases that may be produced by materials in an office – from paint on the ceiling to carpets on the floor and to choose the right ones.

“Green” furniture systems
To further reduce environmental impacts of office projects, we research a variety of furniture systems, and are then able to specify products with higher degrees of recycled content. As well, we often re-use our clients’ existing components and integrate them into our design solutions.

Sustainable systems
The impacts of lighting, air supply and water systems on the efficiency of an office can be substantial. We help our clients choose systems that enhance human health, reduce energy consumption, and lead to a happier and more productive workplace.
